KEITH, EUGENE C. - 69, of Knoxville , passed away suddenly Wed. July 18, 2001, at approximately 3 p.m. He was a devout member and deacon at Third Creek Baptist Church.. He was Music Director for many years and taught Sunday School. Eugene was employed by Union Carbide and Martin Marietta for 38 years. He was a member of the Certification of Engineering Technicians. He had been retired 7 years. He was in the US Air Force and served in the Korean War as a Control Tower Operator. Preceded in death by parents, James and Grace Keith; brother, Charles Keith; sister and brother in law, Lillian and Charlie Forester; and brother in law, Johnnie Crisp. Survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Wilma May Keith; daughters and sons in law, Valerie and Jim Atchley, and Stephanie and Parrish Smith; four grandchildren, Patrick Atchley, Amanda Cabage, Brandon Smith, and Connor Smith; sister, Elsie Crisp and brothers and sisters in law, Lawrence and Jane Keith, Ralph and Gladys Keith, Curtis and Wanda Keith, Carrol and Bobbie Keith; and sister in law, Jean Keith; several nieces and nephews. Family will receive friends Fri. July 20, 2001 6-9 p.m. at Lynnhurst Greenwood Chapel. Funeral service to be held Sat. July 21, 2001, 3 p.m. at Third Creek Baptist Church, Oak Ridge Hwy. (Western Ave.) with Rev. Jimmy Stroud officiating. Family and friends will meet Monday 9 a.m. at Lynnhurst Greenwood Chapel and will proceed at 9:15 a.m. to the TN Veterans Cemetery, Lakeshore Dr., for a 10 a.m. interment service. Military honors by East TN Veterans Honor Guard. Memorials may be made to Third Creek Baptist Church Maintenance Fund, 4917 Oak Ridge Hwy., Knoxville , Tenn. 37921. Pallbearers will be Patrick Atchley, Randy Henderson, Mike Marshall, Mike and Todd May and Robbie Stroud. Honorary pallbearers are; Carl Sellers, Ralph Matlock, Bob Hansard, James Acuff, B.E. Parrott, and Kenneth Cunningham, and the Deacons of Third Creek Baptist Church, Jack and Oscar Dixon, Larry Blackburn, and Dean Brooks. A special thank you to Drs. Mike Carlson and Lacy Harville, III for the loving medical care. Arrangements by Lynnhurst Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home.
