Edward Leon Barclay, 81, of Athens, TN, passed away Wednesday mornig, July 29th, 2009 at Baptist Hospital West in Knoxville, TN. He is preceded in death by his parents, Jesse and Abby Faye Ownby Barclay. He served in the U. S. Army during WWII and was retired from Bell South with 38 years of service. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Flora Barclay of Athens, TN; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Alvin Lee of Louisville, TN and Mary Helen and David Newman of Athens, TN; one son and daughter-in-law, Don and Kathy Barclay of Maryland, grandchildren, Brian and Laura Lee of Maryville,TN, Cayci Carvajal of Kingsport, TN , Stephanie Barclay, Tiffany Peterson and Brittany Barclay all of Maryland and one great-grandson, Rhett Peterson of Maryland. Funeral service will be held at 12 noon, Saturday, August 1st, 2009 in the South Chapel with Rev. Daniel Ivins and Don Barclay officiating. The children and grandchildren will recieve friends 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 31, 2009 in the South Chapel. The entire family will receive friends 11-12 noon, Saturday prior to the service.
