Smith, Dan Miller –age 87, of Seymour, passed away Saturday, April 11, 2009. He was born October 16, 1921 in Emhouse, Texas. He was a 32nd Degree Mason with Oriental Lodge #453 F&AM, Scottish Rite and Knights Templar. Dan was a World War II veteran serving with the United States Army. He was retired from Rentenbach Engineering. Preceded in death by wife, Irma Derden Smith; parents, Hubert Ross and Delia Richards Smith; brothers, Steve E. Smith and Norman R. Smith of Corsicana, Texas; brothers-in-law, Charles Derden of Christoval, Texas, James H. Derden of Sevierville, Ethridge O. White of Corsicana, Texas; children, Dorothy Pritchett Cherry and Bill J. Pritchett of Knoxville.
Survivors
Survived by sister, Lois Smith White of Houston, Texas; sister-in-law, Doris Dunlap Derden of Sevierville; daughter-in-law, Patsy N. Pritchett of Knoxville; granddaughter, Vicki Pritchett Kieffer and husband, Steven D. Kieffer of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews; special great-niece, Taryn Modisette.
Service
Family and friends will meet at Woodlawn Cemetery on Thursday, April 16, 2009 for an 11:00 AM graveside service, Rev. Carl Smith officiating. Military honors will be provided by the East Tennessee Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway with Masonic services at 8:00 PM by Oriental Lodge #453 F&AM.
