DAVIS, HOWARD C. - age 83 of Knoxville, passed away at 6:05 a.m. Sunday, August 8, 2004 at Heritage Assisted Living. He was a beloved husband, father and grandfather, a deacon and secretary of his Sunday School Class at Inskip Baptist Church, and a 50 year member of Bright Hope Lodge # 557 F&AM, member Fountain City Chapter #160 O.E.S. He was an Army Veteran serving World War II. Howard was preceded in death by: his parents, Charlie & Pearl Davis daughter, Doris Wells Huddleston sister, Reba Slaton brothers, Charles and Arthur Davis. Survivors include: his loving wife, Ellen Steele Davis sons, Mike Davis and wife Debbie of Chattanooga, Jerry Wells and wife Pat of Knoxville, Jimmy Wells and wife Janice of Kentucky daughter, Judy Wells Stooksbury and husband Benny of Georgia son-in-law, James Huddleston and wife Maxine of Knoxville 12 grandchildren, 18 great grandchildren and one great great grandson sister, Mildred Francis brothers, Glenn Davis, Joe Davis, Estel Davis. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, August 10, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at Stevens Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Brian Davis & Mike Segers officiating, internment to follow at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens. Grandsons will be the active pallbearers, honorary pallbearers are the deacons from Inskip Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the "Together We Can" program at Inskip Baptist Church, 4810 Rowan Rd, Knoxville, TN 37912.
