  [S4] Knoxville News-Sentinel (Tennessee), 29 Dec 2008. DAVIS, ELLEN STEELE WELLS - age 91, of Knoxville, passed away Saturday, December 27, 2008 at Brakebill Nursing Home. She was a beloved wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a life-long member of Inskip Baptist Church. Ellen was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Conley Wells and husband of 58 years, Howard C. Davis; daughter, Doris Wells Huddleston; parents, J.P. and Bessie Steele; sisters, Virginia Edwards and Elva Oliver; brothers, John and Lincoln Steele. She is survived by: daughter, Judy Wells Stooksbury (Benny) of Woodstock, Georgia; sons, Mike Davis (Debbie) of Hixson, Tennessee, Jerry Wells (Pat) of Knoxville, Jimmy Wells (Janice) of Pendleton, Kentucky; son-in-law, James Huddleston (Maxine) of Knoxville; brother, George Steele (Lucy) of Knoxville; 12 grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great- grandchildren. Funeral Service will be held Wednesday 12:00 noon at Stevens Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Brian Davis and Rev. Mike Segers officiating. Interment to follow at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens, Powell. Grandsons will be pallbearers. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the "Together We Can" program at Inskip Baptist Church, 4810 Rowan Road, Knoxville, TN 37912. The family would like to express a special, "Thank You", to Dr. Pearman and the staff on the Beige Wing at Brakebill Nursing Home for the love and care given to Ellen.
