U.S. Veteran Buford Roger Talley, born in Jefferson County August 2, 1931 passed away Wednesday, February 17, 2010. He was a graduate of Jefferson County High School, attended Carson Newman College, Veteran of the Korean War, Member First Baptist Church, retired from Rusty Wallace Pontiac Cadillac and was a Basketball Coach at West End Elementary. He is preceded in death by his parents F.A. and Meadie Talley, brother John C. Talley, father in law and mother in law Hollis and Charlsie Cody. He is survived by his wife Jennie Cody Talley of 51 years, God –Daughter Jenna Holt Jones and Ron of Sevierville, sister Velma Reuter of Jefferson City, nephews Tommy Long and Judy of New Market and Billy Long of Talbott, TN, great niece Debbie Stepp and Mark of New Market, great nephew Mike Long and Denene of Jefferson City, special cousin caregiver Michael Holt and Opal of Newport, Missy Holt Bullen and Mike, Nancy Johnson and Max, caregiver Robin Smith, special friend James Shelton. Special thanks to Dr. James Williams and Staff and Jeff Grigsby and the staff at Smoky Mountain Home Health and Hospice and memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church TV Ministry. Funeral service will be 8:00 pm Friday, February 19, 2010 at the Manes Funeral Home Chapel with Dr. Rich Lloyd and Dr. Charlie Boggan officiating. Interment will be 11:00 am Saturday, February 20, 2010 in the Union Cemetery. Family will receive friends 6-8 pm Friday prior to the service.
