JOHNSON, MARK SHANE age 16 of the Gibbs Community, passed away Friday, January 5, 2007 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center due to a sudden illness. He was a member of Union Baptist Church on Maynardville Hwy and a sophomore at Gibbs High School. The family would like to give a special thanks to the church family of Union Baptist Church for their loving support and prayers during Marks illness. Also, a special thanks to the staff of Fort Sanders NICU, especially nurses Amanda and Jennifer, for their comfort and support for our family. Mark is preceded in death by: his father, Maynard Lee Johnson, Sr.; grandparents, Vivian and Margaret Johnson and Ralph and Wanda Brown. Survived by: his loving, wonderful mother, Peggy; two brothers that loved him very much and were very close to him, Maynard, Jr. and twin brother Matt, all of Knoxville; two half brothers, Brian Johnson of Knoxville and Jason Johnson of New Tazewell; one half sister, Beverly Watson of New Market; very special girlfriend, Carmen Deleon; niece, Hannah Watson; nephew, Spencer Johnson; God mother, Ivy Wallace; a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 8 pm in the Halls Chapel of Mynatt Funeral Home with Reverend Gary Vandergriff officiating. Family and friends will meet Monday, Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel at 10:15 am and proceeded to Union Baptist Church Cemetery for interment at 11 am. Pallbearers will be: Maynard Johnson, Jr., Tony Johnson, Michael Johnson, Jack Dishner, David Smith and Greg Johnson. Honorary pallbearers will be: Steve Johnson, Frank Carey, Darrell Malone and the staff and friends of Gibbs High School. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Mark to: Union Baptist Church Youth Building Fund, 8244 Old Maynardville Hwy; Knoxville, TN 37938. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-8 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home Halls Chapel but friends may call at their convenience from 2 pm until the visitation begins. www.mynattfh.com
