JOHNSON, MRS. MARGARET H. - age 87, of Knoxville, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 1999, at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was a member of Union Baptist Church. She was a retired nurse and school teacher. Preceded in death by husbands, Bishop L. Johnson, James Beal and Vivian P. Johnson, the father of her seven children; daughter, Vivian Jewell; sons, Laymon and Joe; parents, Ben and Jennie Ellis, her father, Mr. Ellis was the late past Tennessee State Representative; brothers, William, Leroy and Ben Ellis, Jr. She is survived by daughter and son-in-law, Laverne and W. T. Carey of Knoxville; sons and daughters-in-law, Gene and Lucille Johnson of Knoxville, Maynard and Peggy Johnson of Knoxville and Doyle and Sue Johnson of Halls; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild; several nieces and nephews; special friends, Marie Grant, Martha Jones, and Ruby Donahue. Funeral service 11 a.m. Saturday and Union Baptist Church, Knox County, Rev. Gary Vandergriff and Rev. Haskew Smart officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before the service. Interment in Loyston Cemetery. The family would like to express a special thank you to the following people for their loving care during mom's illness: Dr. George Filmore, the nurses at St. Mary's Medical Center, the staff at Contiuum Courtyard as well as the residents of Sunny View Apts. Pallbearers: Frank Carey, Greg Johnson, Mike Johnson, Tony Johnson, Jason Johnson, and Brian Johnson.Hononary pallbearers will be Matthew Johnson, Mark Johnson, Maynard Johnson, Jr., Steve Johnson and Jack Dishner. The family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Friday at Ailor Mortuary, Maynardville.
