EVANS, TONY CONRAD - age 61, of Knoxville, went to be with his Lord Friday, May 15, 2009, while doing one of his favorite things, canoeing in the Big South Fork National Park. He was a faithful member of Wallace Memorial Baptist Church and Larry Stinnett's Sunday School class. He served proudly in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of the Vietnam War, earning the Purple Heart. He graduated from East High School and Carson Newman College. He is preceded in death by stepfather, Charles "Nepo" Parsley; and father, Bill Evans. He is survived by his high school sweetheart and wife of 42 years, Judy Maples Evans; daughters and sons-in-law, Valerie & Scott McCall of Easley, SC, Melissa Godbehere of Ft. Campbell, KY, & Staff Sergeant Eric Godbehere, currently serving in Afghanistan, and Amanda Evans; grandchildren, Cody, Hannah, Holly & Caleb McCall, Erica, Evan, Ethan & Emily Godbehere; mother, Violet Parsley; brother and sister-in-law; Bill and Marilyn Evans of Cleveland, TN; mother-in-law, June Maples; sister-in-law & brother-in-law, Vickie and Rick Kennedy; nephews, Chris Kennedy and Lance Evans; nieces, Tracie Sutton and Megan Jones. Also survived by brother, David Evans; sisters, Pat Evans, Wanda Norman, Carol Watson, B.J. Large; stepmother, Jane Evans. He was a wonderful man who loved his family dearly and was a loyal friend to many. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 19, 2009, from 6:00 - 8:00 PM at Wallace Memorial Baptist Church followed by the funeral service at 8:00 PM with Dr. Mike Boyd, Rev. Larry Brannon and Rev. Kent Williams officiating. Family and friends will gather on Wednesday at 2:45 PM at Greenwood Cemetery for a 3:00 PM graveside service with full military honors presented.
