Lonnie Gene Smelcer, 54, of Ft. Mill, died March 21, 2002. There will be a funeral service 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 25, 2002 at Christ the King Lutheran Church with the Rev. Craig Bollinger officiating. Burial will follow at Crown Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Sunday at McEwen Funeral Service, Pineville Chapel.
Lonnie was born September 1, 1947 in Maryville, TN, son of the late Clifford and Olive Huskey Smelcer. He enlisted in the United States Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War. Lonnie was an avid University of Tennessee fan. He was employed with the United Guaranty Corporation as an underwriter.
Lonnie is survived by his wife, Beve of the home in Ft. Mill, SC; his daughter, Michelle also of the home; brother, Gerald Smelcer of Maryville, TN: two brothers-in-law, Vern DeBuhr and his wife, Geneva of Norwalk, CA and Phillip DeBuhr and his wife, Terry of Buena Park, CA; three sisters-in-law, Edy Levey and her husband Dave of Coto De Caza, CA, Debbie Ito ad her husband, Duane of Whittier, CA, and Colleen Lovecchio and her husband, John of Imperial, CA; several nieces and nephews; and a special nieces, Melinda Moore and her husband, Mike of Corryton, TN and their daughter, Mercy.
