GOODMAN, AMY LENORA GARLAND - age 89, beloved mother, grandmother, and sister, passed away Sunday, May 16, 2010, at home with her family by her side. Amy was preceded in death by parents, Jake & Millie (Zena) Garland; husband, Arthur (Ott) Goodman; 4 sisters and 6 brothers. Survived by her children and their spouses, (Mary & Jack Ridenour, Jane & Charley Comiskey, John & Kay Goodman, Nancy & Clyde Lay); grandchildren, (Steven & Rachel Lay, Andrea & Jennifer Comiskey and Jennifer's husband, Clayton Leasure, Allen Ridenour & Christie Ridenour Miller); sisters and their spouses, (Sylvia & Darrell Galde, Hazel Cope, Ethel Sentell, Nancy & Al Webb); brothers and their spouses, (Wiley & Johnnie Garland, Fred & Judy Garland, JC & Francis Garland, Gene & Trula Garland); three great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Amy was born in the Cane community in the Abrams Creek area, of Blount County and spent her childhood in Cades Cove and Townsend. She loved the mountains and enjoyed many hikes with family to the grassy balds of the Smokies when rhododendrons were in bloom. She was retired from Dempster Brothers in Knoxville. Amy's family thanks the staffs, of Holston Health and Rehabilitation Center and Caris Healthcare for their kind and diligent care over the past several months. The family will have a private gathering to celebrate her life and the joy she brought to those who have had the good fortune of knowing her. Her ashes will be scattered in Cades Cove.
