Qualls, David “Dave” Darrell, 78 of Knoxville passed away Friday, April 24th in a local nursing facility. Dave was born in Powder Springs, Grainger, TN. to the late David Varnell and Ruth Eileen Edmondson Qualls. Dave attended Washburn and Park Jr. He was a 1954 Fulton High School Graduate. He was a member of Union Baptist Church, First Baptist Church of Knoxville, the Foresters and a USAF Veteran. Dave worked for many years with American International and Taylor Impressions as a service tech and manager. He enjoyed tinkering with automobiles, playing golf and time spent with his family. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him, he already is. Dave is preceded in death by his parents and father-in-law, Robert Slagle. He is survived by his loving wife Cathy of 27 years, a son Russell (Angela) of Corryton, a daughter Lauren (Brian) Spradlin, brother Ray (JoAnne) Qualls, nephew Tim (Cindy) Qualls and their son Scott. Step daughters, Kim Benton and Sonya Norman. Additional survivors include his grandchildren; Dustin, Taylor, Madelyn, Jada, Zachary, Colton and Cruz, mother-in-law Reola Aldridge and aunt Mary Beeler all of Knoxville. Memorial services will be 7:00 PM Monday, April 27, 2015, at Bridges Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made in Dave’s name to; Alzheimer’s Association, 5801 Kingston Pike, Knoxville, TN 37919 and/or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation 230 East Ohio Street, Suite 304 Chicago, Illinois 60611-3201. Dave’s wishes were to be cremated however, the family will receive friends 5:00-7:00 PM Monday at Bridges Funeral Home, 5430 Rutledge Pike, 865-523-4999.
