AVERY, GERTRUDE CLINE -age 96, of Knoxville, died Saturday, October 23, 2010 at the family home. She was a member of City View Baptist Church, and preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Landus Ray Avery; granddaughters, Connie Collins, Kristel McCarter, and Lisa Turner. Survivors: daughters, Julia Carter, and Linda McCarter both of Knoxville; granddaughters, Linda Hobock, Sirena Cooke, and Vivian McCarter; grandsons, Victor McCarter, John Landus Butler, and Ray Butler Jr.; great-grandchildren, Steven, Vanessa, Sheldon, Ryan, Angela, Christina, Kelly, Gail, Dallon Avery, Dustin, Nicolas, Tylan, Jake, Landon, Brady, Madison, Colton, and Caylee; 13 great-great grandchildren; several beloved nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Chapel with Reverend Kelsey Jessee officiating. The family and friends will meet 12:15 p.m. Wednesday at Stevens Mortuary to go in procession to Highland Memorial Park for a 1:00 p.m. graveside service and interment. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway. Mrs. Avery's guest book is available at www.stevensmortuaryinc.com.
