SAMUEL RAY FAIN, age 90, of Jefferson City, TN passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. Ray was born September 12, 1921 and was raised in the Sager community. He was a member of George Street United Methodist Church. Preceded in death by beloved wife, Joan Romines Fain; parents, George and Cenia Fain; three infant siblings; brothers, Oscar, Frank and Charlie. Survived by daughter, Sammie Fain and Tim Cox and son, Chris Fain and Laura Holt; sisters, Mae Huskey of Sevierville, Ruth Byard and Hazel Jones of Dandridge; brothers, Arvel and Fred of Dandridge, Clyde of Indiana. Mr. Fain was a highly decorated World War II veteran. He was recently bestowed the Chevalier de la Legion d’Honneur, France’s highest award. The family will receive friends on Sunday, September 2, 2012 from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m. at Farrar Funeral Home in Jefferson City. Graveside interment service will be 11:00 a.m. Monday at Shady Grove Cemetery in Dandridge with Rev. Darrell Chambers officiating.
