Albert Luther Dockery, age 82 of Del Rio, went to be with the Lord, Monday, July 9, 2012 He was a great daddy, papaw, great-papaw, brother and friend. This quiet country plowboy left this world surrounded by his loving family. As an avid farmer and cattleman he will be remembered for lending a helping hand to many who knew him. His mathematical and mechanical abilities were not hindered by his lack of formal education. He served many years as Fire Warden and Crew Leader with the U. S. Forestry Service. He also was employed at Bush Brothers and Legacy Furniture. He delighted in the humor of his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He attended Del Rio First Church of God. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gelena Hill Dockery; parents, Fred and Grace (Messer) Dockery and sister, Zona Craig. He is survived by his daughters and sons-in-law, Helen and Rex Bailey of Mansfield, Ohio, Thelma and Frank Wilhelm of Newport, Charolette and Don Fox of Del Rio, Linda and Jake Wood of Newport and Valarie and Dennis Bean of Knoxville; grandchildren, Lee Ann and Chad Swanger, and Gerald Fox all of Del Rio, Jason Wood of Newport and Meagan and Tom Ingenthron of Sevierville; great-grandchildren, Bethany and Ava Swanger of Del Rio, Jaleeana Wood of Newport and Ariel and Sean Ingenthron of Sevierville; sister, Edith Reece of Dandridge; sister-in-law, Corrina Messer of Newport; special friend Selma McGaha of Newport; also several, cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 8:00 pm Thursday, July 12, 2012 in Manes Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Bobby Morrison officiating. Burial will be held at 11:00 am Friday, July 13, 2012 in Union Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5-8 pm Thursday at Manes Funeral Home prior to the funeral services.
