Hayes, Sr., Paul Gordon- age 79 of Rockford. God called and Paul answered on Monday, February 6, 2012. He was lifetime member of South Knoxville Church of God. He retired from the University of Tennessee with 20 years' service. He served with the US Army as a MP while stationed in Germany. He enjoyed sports, camping and being a Papaw. Preceded in death by parents, Skeet and Lola Hayes; brother, Charles Hayes; sisters, Helen Clifton and Ruby Mae Headrick. Survived by wife of 52 years, Evelyn Hayes; daughter and son-in-law, Sheila and Bill Farmer; son and daughter-in-law Gordon and Nikki Hayes; grandchildren, Bryce and Bryelle Hayes and many more family and friends. Special thanks to Covenant Hospice, special care giver, Rosalinde. Services will be on Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at 7:30 pm with Rev. John Shaw officiating in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway. Visitation will be from 5:30-7:30 pm prior to the service. Interment will be on Thursday, February 9, 2012 at 11:00 am at Mt. Olive Cemetery with Rev. Carl Smith officiating and with full military honors by East Tennessee Veteran Honor Guard.
