COOPER, HARVEY A. - age 84 of Knoxville, passed away Thursday, November 6, 2008 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was a member of Bookwalter United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of WWII serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He retired from the U.S. Postal Service. Harvey was an avid golfer. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother. Preceded in death by parents, J.C. and Mamie Cooper; sister and brother-in-law, Alma and Hobe McGill; brother-in-law, Warren Nichols; sister-in-law, Lennie N. Sharp; brother-in-law, Bob Kalter; nephew, Randy McGill. Survivors: wife, Peggy S. Cooper; daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and David Harrington, Sharon and Terry Carpenter; son-in-law, Barry R. McCarter, all of Knoxville; grandchildren, Lauren and Sean Simpson, Kelly Carpenter, Ryan, Curt and Kristin McCarter; great-granddaughter, Caroline Simpson; step-grandsons, Chris and Noah Harrington; sister, Grace Cooper; sister-in-law, Norma Kalter; brother-in-law, Bill Sharp; many special nieces and nephew; like a daughter, Missy Wiedemann. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bookwalter United Methodist Church Window Fund, 4218 Central Avenue Pike, Knoxville 37912. A funeral service will be held 7:00 p.m. Saturday in Stevens Chapel with Dr. David Lord and Rev. Carl Ware officiating. Family and friends will meet at 1:45 p. m. Sunday at Bookwalter Cemetery for a 2:00 p.m. graveside service and interment. The family will receive friends from 5:00 -7:00 p.m. Saturday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at N. Broadway.
