James (Jim) Edward Reece, 89, of Hendersonville, NC went to be with the Lord on July 14, 2008 at the Elizabeth House, Four Seasons Hospice, in Flat Rock, NC.
He was born in Trade, Tennessee on February 22, 1919 and grew up there and around the Bristol area. He proudly served his country in the United States Army. He later joined the CC Camp in Tennessee. He also worked in the government facility in Oak Ridge, Tennessee and was a carpenter by trade. He was dearly loved and will be missed by many. He loved to garden and was an avid fisherman. If there is a stream in Heaven, he is surely there with his fishing pole in hand.
He was preceeded in death by his parents, Floyd and Maggie Main Reece of Watauga Tennessee, and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by one son, Bob Styles of Asheville, daughters, Mary Reece Sprouse of Flat Rock, NC and Carolyn Reece Ford of Cleveland, TN , 9 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren and another great grandchild expected in January. He is also survived by three sisters, Vada Wells of Pigeon Forge Tn, Pearl Carlson of Glade Springs, VA and Lucille (Velma) Cohen of Winchester, VA. Also, several cousins, neices and nephews.
He attended the Hendersonville Church of Christ. A celebration of his life will be held at the Grindstaff Memorial Chapel of Webb Funeral Home in Spruce Pine, NC on Thursday, July 17, 2008. The visitation will be at 1:00 pm with the funeral immediately following at 2:00 pm. A military burial will follow at the Liberty Hill Baptist Church Cemetery on Highway 19. Rev. Jerry Sinn and Rev. Philip Murdock will officiate.
