U.S. Veteran Ordway Holt, age 87, of Bybee, TN, was born February 24, 1922 and passed away Wednesday, February 3, 2010 at Lakeway Regional Hospital after a long battle with lung cancer. Ordway was a member of Briar Thicket Baptist Church in Bybee. He served his country during WWII, in the Air offensive in Japan, China, and India Burma. He was decorated with four bronze stars along with many more medals. He was an aircraft mechanic, fueling planes for combat when stationed in Okinawa, Japan. He was preceded in death by his wife, Pauline Parker Holt; parents, Melvin and Estalena Bible Holt, of Bybee. Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth and Gail Holt; step granddaughter and her husband, Stephanie and Matt Burr, and their daughter, Kija, all of Maryville; nieces and their husbands, Lena and Charles Lovell, Katherine and Tim Holt all of Newport. The family would like to especially thank Burners Grove United Methodist Church for their love and kindness during Mr. Holt’s illness. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, February 5, 2010 at Manes Funeral Home. A graveside service will be held 11:00 am, Saturday, February 6, 2010 in Glendale Cemetery with Rev.
