George Washington Widby, passed away Thursday, February 2, 2006 at Brakebill Health Care Center. “Papa” was a loving and devoted husband and father and would have celebrated his 85th birthday on February 22. He was a kind, sincere and devoted Christian man whose smiling face brought joy to all those who knew him and will always live in the hearts of those who loved him. He attended Arlington Baptist Church for 45 years where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Victory Sunday School class. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army, and retired after 20 years at Union Carbide in Oak Ridge. He was a 50 year member of the Masonic Lodge, Scottish Rite, and Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Nora Widby, four brothers and two sisters.
Survivors
He is survived by his wife of 64 years Louise Wilson Widby; one brother, Albert Widby; daughter and son-in-law, Barbara and Patrick Cummins; son and daughter-in-law, Ron and Debbie Widby of Wichita Falls, TX; grandsons and wives, Randy and Kathy Cummins of Louisville, KY, Alan and Kathy Cummins of Knoxville, Scott Widby of McKinney, TX, Craig Widby of Chicago, IL; great grandchildren, Chase Cummins, Blakely Cummins, Averi Cummins, Rachel Cummins, Ian Cummins, and Aidan Widby; And several nieces and nephews. Special thanks to the staff of Brakebill Healthcare Center for all their loving care to George and the family.
Service
The family will receive friends from 2:00 to 4:00 PM with the funeral service to follow Sunday at Arlington Baptist Church with Rev. John Holland officiating. Interment will be 10:00AM Monday at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Pallbearers, Randy Cummins, Alan Cummins, Scott Widby, Craig Widby, Chase Cummins and Neil Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are members of Victory Sunday School class and deacons of Arlington Baptist Church. Arrangements by Lynnhurst-Greenwood Chapel of Berry Funeral Home, 2300 W.
