ODOM , RICHARD , SR. age 72 passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus surrounded by his beloved wife and family at his home on November 24, 2007. He was born in Augusta, GA on August 22, 1935 to the late St. Claire and Inez Odom . He was a former member of Greater Warner Tabernacle AME Zion Church. He was a faithful member of Community Evangelistic Church until his passing. Formerly employed by Rohm and Haas, retired from Atlanta Life Insurance Company. He was a TSSAA official; a member of the Greenturf Golf Club; graduate of Austin High School 1956. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by foster brothers, Thomas James (T.J.) Curry and Logan Curry, uncles Plannie C., Roland, Earl, and Joseph B. Odom , father and mother-in-law, Churchill Everett and Eula Mae Armstrong Moore, sister-in-law, Reverend Dr. Gloria S. Moore, brothers-in-law, Charles Moore and Joseph McCray. Survivors: beloved wife and caretaker, Lafreda Odom ; children, Shelia (Gregory) Hensley, Sr. Knoxville, TN; Rigila Odom , Conyers, Ga.; Constance Odom -Johnson, Knoxville, TN; Charlyn (Cory) Watkins, Murfreesboro, TN; Richard Odom Jr., and Randall (Crystal) Odom , Knoxville, TN; 13 grandchildren including devoted grandson, Gregory Hensley, Jr.; 8 great-grandchildren; uncles, William Odom , Lafayette, NC James Franklin, Miss.; aunt, Marjorie Odom , Queens Village, NY; brother and sisters-in-law, Reverend Churchill Moore, Sr., Paula Newton, Lavonia Moore and Sherwood (James) Davis; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. The family will receive friends at Greater Warner Tabernacle AME Zion Church on Wednesday, November 28, 2007 at 12 noon with services to follow at 1 pm. Elder Reginald Strong, Eulogist; Reverend Dr. Eric L. Leake officiating. Internment at Sherwood Memorial Gardens, Alcoa Highway.
