He retired in September 1983 from Rust Engineering in Oak Ridge. Preceded in death by parents, Judd and Lou Giles; son, Tommy Giles; brothers, Allie and Andy Giles; sisters, Reatha Taylor, Pauline Brummett and Alma Yarbrough. He was born December 10, 1916 in Anderson County. Survivors: wife, Mary Jane Carroll Giles of Clinton; sons, Ralph Giles and wife, Shirley, of Heiskell and Roger "R.L." Giles and wife, Debria, of Clinton; daughter-in-law, Sue Giles of Clinton; sisters, Pansy Cooper of Clinton, Mary York and husband, Lonnie, of Clinton and Kata Chapman of Chelsey, Massachusetts; grandchildren, Allen Giles and wife, Heather, of Heiskell, Jason Giles and wife, April, of Clinton, Christy Dotson and husband, Shaun, of Heiskell, Robert Giles of Clinton, Lisa Taylor and husband, Josh, of Heiskell; great-grandchildren, Allie, Kelsey and Katie Giles, Tyler Dotson and Sydney Taylor; special nurse, Jan Lorenzen of Andersonville; special care giver, Angie Flatford of Andersonville; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
