Mrs. Ella (Mickey) Youell, age 80, of Newport, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2008, after a long illness, at the home of her daughter, Ellen Williamson, surrounded by what she loved the most, her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She had a long loving life with her family and late husband Carter Youell.
She was a member of First Baptist Church. She was a member of the Newport Lions Club, a member of the Cocke County High School P.T.A., and a community volunteer. She was an avid oil painter and was active with the Smoky Mountain Art & Craft Guild.
Mrs. Youell was preceded in death by her husband, James Carter Youell Sr.; grandson, Cory McGowen; parents, two brothers and one sister; and son-in-law, Jimmy Williamson.
She is survived by her children, David (Joan) Youell, of Sevierville; Jimmy (Marsha) Youell, of Knoxville; Ellen Williamson, of Newport; Pam (Larry) McGowen, of Ponce de Leon, Fla.; Matt (Mae) Youell, of Newport; Steve (Leah) Youell, of Ponce de Leon, Fla.; 17 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Sue (Bill) Turner, of Jewell Ridge, Va.
Additional survivors include special friend, Mitsy Nease, of Greeneville, and a host of nieces and nephews.
Special thanks to Dr. Thomas Conway and staff, Caris Hospice Care, Food City East Pharmacy Staff, and caregivers, and granddaughter and grandson-in-law, Melia and Devin Bolin.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2008, at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Larry McGowen and the Rev. Scott Gorrell officiating.
Interment will be in Union Cemetery of Newport.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. prior to the service.
