Annie Lou Ownby, 81, of Newport, died January 14 at Mariner Health of Newport. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, Add Ownby and Ethel Stinnett Ownby; sister, Ruby Kirkland; and brothers, George Ownby, Ross Ownby, and Fred Ownby. Survivors: son, Thomas (Toby) Owenby of Newport; sisters, Dixie Hance, Newport, and Shirley Mills, Newport; sister and brother-in-law, Ola and Clifford Large, Newport; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ernest and Jean Owenby, Newport, and Jack and Mervene Owenby, Newport; sisters-in-law, Johnnie Ownby, Dixie Ownby, and Mary Bell Shults, all of Newport; grandsons and granddaughters-in-law, Matthew and Tammy Owenby and Kevin and Debbie Owenby, all of Newport; four step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and special devoted friends, Tom Taylor, Colorado, and Hugh Taylor, White Pine. The family received friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Saturday at Costner-Maloy Funeral Home. The funeral was 2 p.m. Sunday, January 17, at the Costner-Maloy Funeral Chapel, with Rev.
