Key, Jr., Joseph David –age 72, of Knoxville, passed away Monday, September 8, 2008. He was a member of Tarklin Valley Baptist Church and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Key was a 30 year veteran of the City of Knoxville Police Department and a member of FOP Lodge # 2. Preceded in death parents, Joseph D. and Orene Key; sister, Carolyn Key; brother, Robert Key; and grandson, Noah Ott.
Survivors
Survivors include loving wife of 47 years, Fannie Key; daughters, Kimberly Byrd and husband, Randy, Karen Ott and husband, David, Kristy Shinlever and husband, David; grandsons, Randy Byrd and wife, Kristi, Joshua Byrd, Isaac Ott, Christian and Jonathan Shinlever; great-granddaughter, Elishia Byrd; brother, Wayne Key; sisters, Gwendolyn Dukes and Aileen Key.
Service
The family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 PM Thursday, September 11, 2008 in the chapel of Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway, with funeral service to follow at 8:00 PM, Rev. Dennis Robinson, Rev. Claude Ramsey and grandson, Joshua Byrd officiating. Family and friends will meet at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Maryville on Friday, September 12, 2008 for an 11:00 AM interment service. The City of Knoxville Police Department Honor Guard will present honors. Pallbearers will be Randy, Randy II, and Joshua Byrd, David Shinlever, David Ott and Joe Mase.
