Veteran of the US Army having served during World War II. Preceded in death by first wife, Bessie "Bill" Miles; second wife, Amanda Tilley Miles; sisters, Martha Jewel Hammonds, Gaynell Chambers; brothers, Albert and Hubert Miles. Survivors: son & daughter in law, James "J.E." & Donna Miles of Maryville; grandchildren, Adrain, Caleb, Haley Miles; sister, Dimple White of Maryville; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 8 p.m. Monday July 16, 2001 at New Providence Primitive Baptist Church. Elder Ronnie Blair, Elder Ronald Crisp officiating. Interment 10 a.m. Tuesday in the church cemetery. The body will be at New Providence Primitive Baptist church (Six Mile Rd., Maryville) after 3:30 p.m. Monday where friends may call at their convenience.
