BIVENS, JOHN REEFORD - age 69 of Loudon, died suddenly, Sunday August 31, 2008. Reeford was a member of Jackson Chapel Baptist Church. Preceded in death by parents, Johnny and Maggie Henry Bivens; infant sister, Katie Sue Bivens. Survivors, wife, Phyllis Russell Bivens; sons, John Allen Bivens, Jason Reeford Bivens; and special friend, Alexis Jenkins; daughter, Stacey and husband, Jody King; 9 granchildren; one great granddaughter; brothers, Elzie Bivens and Barbara, Philadelphia, Don Bivens and Margie, Friendsville, Howard Bivens and Fannie, Jacksonville Beach, FL, Jim Bivens and Violet, Maryville, and Bob Bivens, Loudon; sister, Jeanette Axley, Kennesaw, GA; other nieces and nephews. Funeral services 7 PM Tuesday Loudon Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Kirkland and Rev. Jamie Patterson officiating. Interment 10:30 AM Wednesday Corinth Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5 - 7 PM Tuesday, Loudon Funeral Home.

Ex-Friendsville grocer Bivens dies

A former owner and operator of Friendsville Grocery died Sunday, Aug. 31.
John Reeford Bivens, 69, of Loudon, was well-known in the small Blount County community, said his brother, Don Bivens. Reeford, as he was knows to friends, operated the market on College Street for several years. He also was a farmer who raised cattle, and he liked to bird hunt.
Funeral services 7 p.m. Tuesday, Loudon Funeral Home Chapel. Rev. Rick Kirkland and Rev. Jamie Patterson officiating. Interment 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at Corinth Cemetery. Family will receive friends 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Loudon Funeral Home.
