Charles E. Lindsey, age 77, of Newport, passed away, Sunday, August 24, 2008 in Morristown-Hamblen Hospital. He was a member of Newport Presbyterian Church, and retired from BASF with over 43 years of service. Charles was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was preceded in death by his father, Earl Lindsey and his mother, Charlsie Sawyer Finchum. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Carolyn G.Lindsey of Newport; son, Dr. Charles H. Lindsey (Kathy), of Morristown; daughter Lisa Hance (Marlon) of Newport; grandchildren, Chase Lister (Ryan) of Louisville, KY, Taylor Lindsey of Birmingham, Alabama, Abby Turner(Richard) of Jacksonville, Alabama, Laura Kate Lindsey of Birmingham, Alabama, Cody and Macey Hance of Newport; great grandchild, Jude Lister of Louisville, KY; special sister, Evelyn Barnes of Jonesborough, TN; half-sisters, Edith Holloway, Frances Livesay (Eugene), Earlene Strange (Claude); half-brother, David Lindsey all of Newport; also several nieces, nephews and a host of special friends.
“I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me but also to all who have loved his appearing.” II Timothy 4: 7-8
Graveside services will be held 11:00 am, Wednesday, August 27, 2008 in Union Cemetery, with Rev. Ryan Lister and Rev. Calvin Metcalf officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Newport Presbyterian Church, 399 Hedrick Drive, Newport, TN 37821.
