Edward E. "Gene" Coleman, age 84, born April 7, 1931, in Dayton, TN, passed away Tuesday, September 29, 2015, at Asbury Place.
As a small child he moved with his family to Blount County when the Chickamauga Dam was built. He graduated from Friendsville High School and was a member of First United Methodist Church, Maryville, TN. He worked for McCammon Motors, McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home and Blount Farmers Co-op for 20 years and retired in 1996.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lee Coleman; parents, J. Ed Coleman and Kate Spence Coleman; sister, Elizabeth Coleman Wagner; son-in-law, Peter N. Day.
He is survived by daughter, Lockie A. Coleman-Day of Kingsport; daughter and son-in-law, Lucy Jean Coleman Nash and William Joseph Nash, III; granddaughters, Amy Elizabeth Nash and Candice Michelle Nash; brother, Chester Spence Coleman of Kingsport; nieces, Donald and Kathy Coleman of Kingsport, TN, Penny and Mark Talley, Anna and Billy Mills of Charlotte, NC, Laura and Nathan R. Croom of Raleigh, NC; great nephews, Jamie and Landon Talley; great niece, Katherine Mills; great nephews, William A. Mills, IV, Audie R. Croom.
There will be a graveside service 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 3, 2015, at Sherwood Memorial Gardens with Rev. George Macht officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
