Ross, Lt. Colonel Glenn D. was a faithful servant of his country, good father and loving husband. He was a member of the “Greatest Generation” who answered his country’s call and served it well. He was born in Norton, Virginia in 1923 and grew up roaming the mountains with his boyhood friends. He entered the US Air Force in 1942 and was based in North Africa as a pilot. Later, he graduated college on the GI Bill and was recalled during the Korean conflict. Years and a family later he served in Vietnam and retired from the Air Force in the early 1970’s. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Lou; four children: daughter Debbie Acuff and husband David, daughter Susan and husband Don Sims, son Lt. Colonel Patrick Ross USAF (Retired) and wife Rhonda, daughter Melissa and husband John Baca; grandchildren: Donald, Jr., Stephanie and Eric Sims, Blaise and Casey Baca, Kristin and Colby Ross. He is also survived by sisters Jackie Schultz and the late Boyd Schultz, JoAnn Horch and husband Jim; brothers Fred Ross and wife Marietta, Bill Ross and wife Delphine and sister-in-law Jewell Ross. He is preceded in death by his father Hubert Ross, mother Thelma Ross, and brother Lt. Col. Paul Ross, USAF (Retired). A brief graveside memorial service will be held Tuesday, September 18 at 11:30 a.m. at the East Tennessee Veterans Cemetery, 5901 Lyons View Pike. The family would like to thank the staff at Ben Atchley State Home for Veterans and additionally the doctors, nurses and other staff at Parkwest Medical Center for their care. In lieu of flowers the family requests a donation be made to the Parkwest Medical Center Chaplain’s Fund, 9352 Parkwest Boulevard, Knoxville, TN 37923. Lt.
