James B. Stamper
Longtime Shawnee resident James B. Stamper, 77, died Friday at a local
hospital.
He was born July 20, 1923, in Noble, to Bolen and Tempe Stamper.
He was a retired engine repairman at Tinker Air Force Base. Stamper
married Jewel McLaughlin in Tennessee on March 23, 1946.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Stamper was a member of
the First Church of God in Tecumseh, where he served as deacon, elder and
taught a Bible class. He was a Master Mason, Scottish Rite and 32nd Degree
Mason and a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
The casket will remain open until service time and will not be opened
after.
Stamper was preceded in death by her parents, two grandchildren, seven
sisters and two brothers.
Survivors include his wife, Jewel Stamper of the home; two sons and one
daughter-in-law, Mike and Trina Stamper, Oklahoma City; Doug Stamper,
Shawnee; one daughter and son-in-law, Sandra and Chuck Moyers, Oklahoma
City; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Service will be 10 a.m. Monday at Roesch-Walker Funeral Chapel with Todd
Tiffin officiating. Burial will be at Dale Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Tecumseh First Church of God Building Fund.
