COX, OMA DOWDA - age 86, of Powell, Tennessee passed away Monday, May 12, 2008 at the St. Mary's Residential Hospice in Halls after a lengthy illness. She was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church. She was retired from ORAU and later worked at Parkwest Hospital for 14 years as a volunteer. Her hobbies were reading, crocheting, and working crossword puzzles. She was preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Otis Clyde Cox; parents, Clint & Mary (Valentine) Dowda; sisters, Charity Dowda, Rose Fox; brother, Kennis Dowda; special niece, Pamela Cobble and special brother-in-law, Henry Carroll. Survivors: sister, A. O. Carroll of Clinton; niece, Mary Lou Roland of Knoxville; nephew, Bill & Cathy Dowda of Kingsport; several other nieces & nephews and host of friends. The family will receive friends on Wednesday, May 14, 2008 from 6 - 8 pm at the Holley-Gamble Funeral Home with funeral services to follow in the chapel at 8:00p.m. with Rev. Joe Copeland & Rev. Beryl West officiating. Interment will be Thursday, May 15th at 11:00 a.m. at Woodhaven Memorial Gardens in Claxton. Holley-Gamble Funeral Home in Clinton is in charge of the arrangements.
