Guy Ruble Wheeler, age 80, of Newport, went to be with his Lord, Thursday, September 6, 2012 following a lengthy illness. He left behind a legacy of loving family. He served as a Corporal in the United States Army and was a member of the American Legion. He worked for 26 years in Cleveland, Ohio at Alcoa Aluminum and enjoyed his time in Cleveland raising his family, but looked forward to moving back home to Newport. In 1976 he retired and moved his family to Newport and continued their home here. He was preceded in death by his father, Roy Wheeler; mother, Pearl Wheeler; brother Reece Wheeler; sisters and brothers-in-law, Annalou and Charles Smithpeters and Helen and Bob Grooms; sister-in-law, Polly Wheeler; and son Darrell Wheeler. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Ruby Faye Wheeler and their children, sons, Larry of Ohio, Chris of Ohio; daughter, Vicky Wilson of Newport; and son Jeff (Melinda) of Newport; brother, RJ Wheeler of Texas; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and his loving dog Hojo and a host of family and friends. Family and friends will gather from 6-8 pm Friday September 7, 2012 in Manes Funeral Home West Chapel with funeral services following at 8:00 pm with Dr. Roy Van Miller officiating Funeral services will be held at 8:00 pm, Friday, September 7, 2012 in Manes Funeral Home West Chapel. Graveside service will be held at 12:00 noon Saturday, September 8, 2012 in Union Cemetery.
