Terry Douglas Cook, born April 20, 1953, won his battle with cancer by going to be with his Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 13, 2010, surrounded by his family. He was retired from ALCOA after 31 years of service and was a member of the United Steel Worker’s Local 309 25 year club. Terry bowled for many years in league and tournament bowling and loved these times with his friends. His love for fishing also made for many happy memories with his family and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, J.D. Cook; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rev. Ben and Mattie Abbott; grandparents, Benton and Arizona Cook and Oscar and Martha Farley; sister-in-law and brothers-in-law, Joanne Abbott and Benny Lowell Abbott, Jack Abbott, and Bill Jones; He is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Jennie; and by the grace of God and their mother, two sons, Mitchell and Jason Stott; his loving mother, Sara Cook; his sister and brother-in-law, Susan and Mike Murphy; his brother and sister-in-law, Curtis and Lisa Cook; his grandchildren that he cherished, Jesse, Amber, Jasie, and Zachary Stott; his nieces and nephews, Micah, Chris and Landon Hope, Miranda, Nathan, and soon to be Lilah Sparks, Justin Cook, Jarred Cook, and Julie and Andrew Masterson; also children by the grace of God are Bill and Kim Harrill and Pam and Dan Hess and family. He is also survived by his aunt, Jimmie Sue Cook, uncle and aunt, Tony and Carol Farley, aunt and uncle, Johnnie and Larry Kauker, aunt, Pauline Farley and uncle, Don McDonald; many beloved cousins. Other survivors include brothers and sisters-in-law, Bob and Dorothy Abbott, John and Ann Abbott, Robin Abbott, Billie Jones, Gaynell and Max Manning, Benalee and Bill Hutsell, Reba and Dale Breeden, Cindy and Tommy Thomason, Jackie Abbott; and many nieces and nephews. Terry will be greatly missed by his family and a host of friends, especially good friends, Dean and Shirley Ridings and Bill and Sandy Atkins. The family would like to thank Dr. McCachren and his staff, Dr. Moore and Nurse Anna, and the staff of the oncology unit at Blount Memorial Hospital. Paul bearers will be: Steve Clemmer, Larry Cooper, David Fagg, Larry Murphy, Bruce Lane, Jim Roberts, Robin Abbott and Cody Abbott. Funeral service will be held at 8:00 PM on Monday, March 15, 2010 at Miller Funeral Home, Magnolia Chapel, with Rev. Rex Everett and Mr. Mike Murphy officiating. The interment will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Hillcrest Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
