HIXSON, MINNIE SUE - age 86, of Newport, passed away suddenly Saturday, November 11, 2000, at the Baptist Hospital of East Tennessee. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Newport. She was preceded in death by her husband, Basil Hugh Hixson. She is survived by her son, B. Hugh Hixson and his wife Janice, her daughter, Sue-Ella Brown, all of Knoxville; sisters, Cora Lou Turner of Johnson City, Tenn., and Frances Self of Jacksonville, Fla.; grandchildren, Wesley Hugh Hixson and his wife Karen of Kernersville, N.C., Katie Logan and her husband Troy, Priscilla Jenkins and her husband Jason, Michael Brown and Christian Brown, all of Knoxville; great-grandchildren, Jessica and Joanna Logan of Knoxville, and Avery Hugh Hixson of Kernersville, N.C. Graveside service will be Tuesday at 11:30 a.m. at Union Cemetery with the Rev. Riley Huffstetler officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations made to the First United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 212 Washington Ave., Newport, TN 37821. Brown Funeral Home, is in charge of arrangements.
