GRAY, WALLACE "CHIEF" KERMIT - beloved husband, father, grandfather, age 78 of Sweetwater, born on June 9, 1924, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2002 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville. He was a native of Green County, but lived all of his life in McMinn County. He was a member of New Bethany Baptist Church, but attended First Baptist Church of Niota. Preceded in death by his parents: W.C. and Lucile McConkey Gray. Survivors include: wife of 56 years, Martha G. Gray daughter and son in law, Connie and Jim Alexander son and daughter in law, Jim and Rhonda Gray all of Sweetwater grandchildren, Jarrod and Melody Gray of Sweetwater, Hilarie and David Prock of Knoxville cherished great grandson, Justin Ross Cole Alexander brother and sister in law, Bob and Margie Gray sisters and brother in law, Josephine Dixon and Joyce Gregory all of Sweetwater, Geneva Robinson of Niota, Alice and Tommy Montooth of Monterray, Tenn. uncle, L.C. McConkey aunt, Mary Rhodes, both of Sweetwater several nieces and nephews. The body is at Sweetwater Memory Chapel, Sweetwater where the family will receive friends Tuesday from 6-8 p.m. with funeral services to follow at 8 p.m. in the Memory Chapel with Rev. Mike Farmer and Rev. Doug Alexander officiating. Burial 11 a.m. Wednesday in the Sweetwater Valley Memorial Park. Sweetwater Memory Chapel is in charge of arrangements. www.kykerfuneralhome.com
