SHUBERT, RAY ALLEN - January 17, 2003, age 85. He was born September 8, 1917 in Lenoir City, Tenn. Mr. Shubert was a graduated [sic] from Carson-Newman College in Jefferson City, Tenn. While there he met his wife, Marilee Davis. They were married September 27, 1941. He was Captain of the Carson-Newman football team, played on the baseball team and was inducted into the Carson-Newman Athletic Hall of Fame in 1986. He served as President of the Men's Student Government. He also served in the US Navy in 1941 and retired from Eaton Laboratories. He and his wife were active members of the First Baptist Church of Nashville for more than 50 years. Mr. Shubert was preceded in death by his wife, Marilee and parents, Henry E. and Martha Conner Shubert of Lenoir City, Tenn. He is survived by sons, Robert A. (Judy) Shubert of Fort Worth, TX and William H. Shubert of Brentwood, Tenn. one daughter, Leta (John) Sproule of Franklin, Tenn. sisters, Helen (Paul) Dutton, Alyce (Harold) Proaps, Lucille Gardner-Greene and Berniece Walker all of Lenoir City, Tenn. brother, R.H. Shubert of Knoxville, Tenn. grandchildren are Brandy Shubert of Bowling Green, Ky., David (Tammy) Shubert of Andalusia, Ala., Gail (Troy) Blalock of Caldwell, NC, Michael (Shannon) Shubert of Mt. Pleasant, TX, Jonathon Shubert of Brentwood, Tenn., Clint Wilder, Shannon Saratella Shubert and Lacey (Joseph) Dozier all of Nashville. Services will be held on Monday January 20, 2003 at 10 a.m. at the Broadway Chapel of Roesch Patton Brentwood Funeral Home in Nashville. Services will also be conducted in Lenoir City on Tuesday, January 21, 2003 at 2 p.m. in the Click Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Steve Taylor officiating. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of service. Interment Lenoir City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Association.
