DAVIS, JAMES F. "JIM" - age 90 of Corryton, joined Belle Richey Davis his wife of 61 years in their heavenly eternal home, 10:15 pm Labor Day, September 6, 2010. He fought a rapid battle with aggressive cancer. He was born in Inskip, graduate of Central High School, member of Masonic Lodge Ftn. City #757 F&AM, Kerbela Shriner 32nd Degree, served in the United States Navy for 6 years during World War II in the African and European Theater and retired from Stowers Machinery Corp. in Knoxville after 38 years. He enjoyed working in his wood working shop, building furniture for his family and friends and was a devoted husband, father and grandfather that loved his church and the Lord. Member of Atkins Baptist Church. Preceded in death by: parents: Jeffery Birch and Adra Tallent Davis; brother: John Ben Davis; sisters: Ruth Davis Bell, Dorothy Ann Beavers, Betty Jane Davis and infant son: Leonard Eugene Davis. Jim leaves behind a devoted family to carry on till they are reunited in heaven; daughters and sons-in-law: Anita Davis and John Dee Pollard, Betty Davis and Randy Gooch; son: Jimmy Darrell Davis; granddaughter: Taylor Janeigh Gooch; adopted grandchildren: (neighbors) Madison and Nick Wright; special friends: Cookie and John Grissom and Butch and Elaine Hurst; special nephews and wives: Lynn Tallent Bell (Helen) and Ronald "Butch" Davis (Shirley) Bill Beavers (Mildred). Service 8 pm Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City, Pastor Bryan Wright officiating. Family and friends will meet 1:45 pm Saturday at Bookwalter Cemetery for interment service at 2 pm. In lieu of flowers memorial donations to be made to Fairview Baptist Church Building Fund or Clear Springs Baptist Church. Family will receive friends 6 to 8 pm Friday at Mynatt Funeral Home Fountain City. www.mynattfh.com
