Dila “Vearl” Ford, age 76, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 20, 2011. She was a member of New Hope Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She retired from Yale Security. She also received her CNA certification. Preceded in death by parents, Barney and Bertha Cable. Survived by husband, Joel Ford; daughters, Kathy Carver, Cindy Long and Martinna Sutton; daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Eddie Liles, Melanie and Michael Lemons and Madonna and David Enea; son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Marsha Long; grandchildren, Daniel Carver, Heather Daniels, Brittany Liles, Kelly Long, Megan and Katelin Lemons, Amanda Davis, Macaylia Sutton; great-grandchildren, Matthew Carver, Abigail Daniels, Deizel Sutton; brother and sister-in-law, Darrell and Evelyn Cable; sister and brother-in-law, Wanda and Tyson Matoy; and sister, Vonda Riden; several nieces and nephews; special friend, Coretta Courrier; and a host of friends. Service will be on Tuesday, March 22, 2011, at New Hope Baptist Church at 8 p.m., with Rev. Mike Parker and Rev. Ronnie Steele officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m., prior to the service. Family and friends will meet on Wednesday, March 23, 2011, at 11 a.m., at Sherwood Memorial Gardens for the entombment. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Vearl’s name to the Greenback Emergency and Rescue Squad, 6815 Morganton Road, Greenback, TN, 37742, or to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2200 Sutherland Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37919. Sherwood Chapel and Memorial Gardens is honored to help the Ford family.
