WILHITE, CLARENCE "WILLIE" - age 73, of Strawberry Plains, passed away 2:45 p.m. Wednesday, April 9, 2008 at St. Mary's Medical Center. He was a member of Lyons Creek Baptist Church and a lifelong truck driver for several area trucking companies. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Liston and Jennie Wilhite; and father, Ernest Wilhite; and mother, Flora Brewer. Survivors: wife of 43 years, Beulah Stipes Wilhite; special grandson, Joshua Dale Wilhite both of Strawberry Plains; daughters, Beverly Kitts and husband Ronnie of Maynardville, Renee Wilhite of Strawberry Plains, Sherrie Wilhite and Penny Phillips both of Powell; sons, Billy Joe Woods of Mississippi, and Willie Hicks of Strawberry Plains; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister and brother-in-law, Joyce and Clarence (Pete) Lowary of Knoxville; half brother, Lloyd Earl of Knoxville; half sisters, Pat Hobby of Knoxville, Jeanie, Dotty, Marie, and Mary Ellen all of Massachusetts; several special aunts and uncles; nieces and nephews; and close friend, Tim Thomas. A funeral service will be held 8:00 p.m. Friday at Stevens Mortuary Chapel with Rev. Steve Ailor and Rev. Kevin Sexton officiating. The family and friends will meet 10:45 a.m. Saturday at Eastview Memorial Gardens for a graveside service and interment at 11:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at Stevens Mortuary, Oglewood Avenue at North Broadway.
