He was an active member of Little Valley Baptist Church and a Veteran in the U.S. Army. Preceded in death by parents, Lankford and Annie Smith, six brothers, and four sisters. Survivors include wife, Dorothy; sons, Paul of New York, Dennis and wife Brendalyn of Rutledge, David, Ronnie and Donnie, all of Blaine; grandsons, Nicholas and Josh; sisters, Esther McMillon of Strawberry Plains, Ina Cochran of Strawberry Plains, Susie Flynn of Knoxville, Nina Fisher of Blaine, and Mary Alice Zachary of Corryton. Funeral services for Mr. Smith will be held Wednesday, January 17, 2001, at 8 p.m. in the Smith Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Hollis Dunsmore and Rev. Henry Greer officiating. Graveside services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. in the Little Valley Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday prior to the service. Arrangements made by Smith Funeral Home, in Rutledge.
