OWNBY, DIANE ELIZABETH - died peacefully Sunday, February 5, 2006 at NHC Ft. Sanders. She was born April 21, 1944, in New York, New York. She passed away after a year-long battle with bladder cancer. She was a warm, caring person who loved, and was loved by, her friends and family very much. She was an avid reader who loved murder mysteries. She also enjoyed just spending time at home with her cat, Chelsea. Her family and friends would like to extend special thanks to the staff at NHC Fort Sanders, Caris Health Care Hospice staff, and the nurses on the fifth and ninth floors of Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center. She is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Ownby her sisters and brothers-in-law Joanne and Dimitri Kalatzis, Kerry and Keith Collins, and Eudora Ganoung her aunt and uncle Kay and Raymond Moorehead, and her aunt Mary Moorehead and special friends Mike Nielsen, Elaine Milstead, and Barbara Zimbler. Funeral Mass 2:00 P.M. Friday at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church Father Jim Brucz, CSP officiating. Rites of Christian Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The American Cancer Society, East Region Office, 871 Weisgarber Rd., Knoxville, TN 37909, www.cancer.org. The family will receive friends 6-8:00 P.M. Thursday followed at 8:00 P.M. by a Christian Prayer service at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel. www.rosemortuary.com.
