Virginia Brogan age 89 of Maryville formerly of Etowah passed away Tuesday, December 09, 2003, at Colonial Hills Nursing Home. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Barbourville, Kentucky. Born September 06, 1914 in Barbourville, KY. She had a long and varied career as an aircraft technician at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. An Army surgical tech in World War II, she graduated with A.B. and B.S. degree in education. She taught English and special reading both internationally and domestically for over 30 years. She retired from a Florida teaching position and moved to Etowah, Tennessee in 1978. Preceded in death by husband, Mr. Miracle, parents, Thomas Franklin and Mary Elizabeth Johnson Brogan, sisters, Reeda Mae Brogan Woesten, Margie Brogan and Bessie Brogan James, brothers, Robert Matthew Brogan, James Benton Brogan, John Randolph Brogan, Niece, Ponjola Brogan Carlisle.
Survivors: brother, William Greene Brogan and wife Sarah J. Tinker Brogan of Maryville, Nieces, Evelyn Brogan Ataherton of Columbus, Ohio, nephew, C. Joseph Tinker of Denver, Colorado, great-nieces, Carmen Rene'e Carlisle Gregg and husband Daniel Gregg of Toqui, Georgia, great-nephew, Byron Thomas Carlisle, great-great-nephew, Matthew Gregg. Many special friends and associates in Florida. Family and friends will view at 2:00pm Friday, December 12, 2003, at Miller Funeral Home. Interment will be at Hutchens Cemetery in Bailey Switch, Kentucky. Arrangements by Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
