Herbert H. Woodby, 75 of 49960 C.R. 21, Sarahsville, Ohio died at 5:02 a.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2004 in the Southeastern Ohio Regional Medical Center, Cambridge, Ohio.
He was born at Townsend, Tenn. on October 17, 1928 a son of the late Joseph and Hester Caylor Woodby.
He was a retired employee of the former Consolidated Aluminum Corp., Hannibal, Ohio. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict having received a double purple heart and two bronze stars. He was also a Protestant by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Floyd Woodby.
Surviving are his wife, Lavina Wise Carpenter Woodby of the home; two sons, Herbert Woodby and his wife Andrea of Byesville, Ohio and Jeff Woodby and his wife Cathy of Woodsfield, Ohio; one daughter, Deborah Woodby of Woodsfield, Ohio; three step-daughters, Sharon Cline of Summerfield, Ohio, Dee Dee Leasure of Sarahsville, Ohio and Debbie Kopp of East Sparta, Ohio; three step-sons, Les Carpenter and Mark Carpenter both of Summerfield, Ohio and Robin Carpenter of Woodsfield, Ohio; five sisters, Wilma McKinney of Townsend, Tenn., Polly Fox of Buena Vista, California, Pearl Riley of Michigan, Bessie McNeelly of Memphis, Tenn. and Mary Layman of Honolulu, Hawaii; three brothers, Roy Woodby of Florida, Bill Woodby of Virginia and Jerry Woodby of Townsend, Tenn.; four grandchildren, Joshua Woodby, Tyler Woodby, Jennifer Woodby, Jaclyn Woodby; 16 step grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren.
Friends will be received at Brubach-Watters Funeral Home, Summerfield, Ohio from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday where funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday. Burial will follow in the Calais Cemetery, Calais, Ohio with full military graveside services. Smokies Traveler
