WOODBY, FLOYD J. - age 80, of Newport, Ohio, formerly of Maryville, passed away Thursday, August 21, 2003, at Marietta Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Ohio. He was born February 9, 1923, in Townsend to Joe and Hester Caylor Woodby. He was a World War II Veteran serving in Germany and France. He was employed by Alcoa Aluminum Company and retired from Ormel Corporation in Hannibal, Ohio, after 30 years of service. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, gardening, golfing and hiking, especially in the Great Smoky Mountains. He was preceded in death by parents, Joe and Hester Caylor Woodby and daughter-in-law, Cheryl Woodby. Survivors include wife of 51 years, Betty R. Cooper Woodby son, David J. Woodby and wife, Becky of Newport, Ohio daughter, Teresa G. Edwards and husband, Rex of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina six grandchildren, Tim Edwards and wife, Keri of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kristin Woodby of Columbus, Ohio, Jessica Edwards of Charlotte, North Carolina, Brian Woodby of Newport, Ohio, Rebecca Edwards of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina, Garrett Nunn of Newport, Ohio brothers, Roy Woodby and wife, Wilma of Moore Haven, Florida, Herbert Woodby and wife, Levina of Caldwell, Ohio, Bill Woodby and wife, Pat of Hopewell, Virgina, Jerry Woodby of Hickory, North Carolina sisters, Wilma McKinney of Townsend, Bessie McNeilly and husband, Don of Memphis, Polly Ann Fox and husband, Clint of Mission Viejo, California, Pearl of Michigan and Mary Helen of Oregon, and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 25, 2003, at Tuckaleechee Primitive Baptist Church in Townsend, Rev. James Cooper officiating. Interment to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville.
