Betty R. Woodby, age 80, of Hendricks St. Newport, Ohio, formerly of Townsend, passed away, March 24, 2008 at Harmar Place in Marietta, Ohio. She was born February 21, 1928, in Townsend, Tennessee to the late Wiley K. and Julia Ann Lane Cooper. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Floyd Woodby; sister, Lois Hannah; and brother, Jack Cooper. She was active in the St. Mary’s, WV, Ladies Golf Association. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David and Rebecca Woodby of Newport, Ohio; daughter and son-in-law, Teresa and Rex Edwards of Pine Knoll Shores, North Carolina; grandchildren and spouses, Timothy and Keri Edwards of Charlotte, North Carolina, Kristin and Trygva Koren of Dayton, Ohio, Jessica and Richard Dyer of Benson, North Carolina, Brian Woodby of Newport, Ohio, Rebecca Edwards and Fiancée, Matt Williams, of Charlotte, North Carolina, and Garrett Nunn of Newport, Ohio; great-grandson, James Edwards, of Charlotte, North Carolina; sisters and brothers-in-law, Virginia “Jo” and William Blankenship of Maryville, Dorothy and David Johnson of Townsend; brother and sister-in-law, James and Linda Cooper of Townsend; several nieces and nephews. Funeral service 1:00 PM Thursday, March 27, 2008 at Tuckaleechee Primitive Baptist Church, Townsend. The interment will follow in the Church Cemetery.
