Cora Irene Carpenter age 91 of Maryville, passed away Friday, November 13, 2015, at Blount Memorial Hospital. She was a lifelong and oldest member of Carpenters United Methodist Church and the oldest of 12 brothers and sisters. She loved quilting, crocheting, working in her flower garden, and church work. Preceded in death by her husband, John Bert Carpenter; grandsons, Anthony Kyle Carpenter and Michael Shane Carpenter; brother, Charles Best; infant brother, Roscoe Best.
Survivors include her children, John Lee (Shirley) Carpenter of Robbinsville, NC, Lyda (David) Plemons, Kyle Carpenter, Loretta (Barry) Woods, and Donna (Stuart) Smith; grandchildren, Bert Lee Carpenter, Misty Millsaps, Phillip (Lisa) Plemons, Tim (Stephanie) Plemons, Thomas Woods, Hannah and Emilee Smith; step-grandchildren, David Matheson, Kenitra Tallent, and Kala Richie; 9 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, 4 step great-great grandchildren; sisters, Wilma Holder, Edna Ruth Murphy, Myrle Alloway, Mary Martha Boring, and Erma Grace Boring; brothers, Oscar, Larry, Tommy, and Wayne Best; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service and interment will be 2:00 pm Monday, November 16, 2015, at Carpenters United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. Peggy Meade and Rev. Lonnie Garner officiating. Friends may call at their convenience Sunday at McCammon-Ammons-Click Funeral Home.
