He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and a member of Lonsdale United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Marion Purkey. Survived by his wife of 58 years, Bernice J. Purkey; son, Mark H. and wife Janet O. Purkey; grandchildren, Kaitlan M. and Brooke O. Purkey all of Knoxville; several nieces and nephews also survive. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday at Lynnhurst Cemetery with Dr. Dan Kelly officiating. Friends and family may call at their convenience on Wednesday at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel.
