Marjorie Turner “Murr” Purkey, age 89, of Maryville, went to be with the Lord Sunday, December 5, 2010, at her home. She was a member of Springview Baptist Church for 62 years. She led singing, played piano, led WMU, and taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Lawrence R. Turner and Fred N. Purkey; sister, Ernestine Long Daugherty; and brothers, JD, Ferris, Marvin, and Ray Long. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Melvin and Sharon Turner of Maryville; daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and Lonnie Cooper of Maryville; grandchildren, Melanie Turner Head, Elizabeth Turner McKenzie, and Anthony McKenzie of Texas, Tanya Cooper, Teresa Cooper Farmer, and Marcus Farmer of Maryville; great-grandchildren, Miranda Shawn Gonzales, Matthew Shawn, Jason Head, Lauren Head, Chaz Haney, Danny McKenzie, Garrin McKenzie, Hayden McKenzie, and Easton McKenzie all of Texas, and Andrew and Amelia Farmer of Maryville; step grandchild, Jeffrey Cain of Knoxville; great-great-grandson, Talon Gonzales of Texas; sister-in-law, Lola Satterfield of Maryville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held 8:00 PM Tuesday, December 7, 2010, at Miller Funeral Home Cedar Chapel, Rev. Toby Downey and Rev. Ben Ward officiating. Entombment service will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday at Sherwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum, Rev. Kenneth Holder officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Maryville, (865) 982-6041, www.millerfuneralhome.org.
