Thelma G. Turner, age 99 of Knoxville went to be with the Lord Thursday, November 26, 2009. She was a member of Tenessee Avenue Baptist Church. She is in heaven now where she wanted to be for a long time. She was a wonderful mom and grandmother, always loving and kind. She loved growing flowers. Thelma is preceded in death by her husband, Charles L. Turner; parents, A.J. and Lucinda Russell; sisters, Orean, Edith Adams, Helen Nolen; brothers, Calvan and Clyde Russel; children, Rev. Donald Turner, Bobbie Kidd, Jim Turner. Survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Ray and Betty Turner, John and Linda Turner, Paul and Amy Turner; son, Jack Turner; daughter and son-in-law, Lois and Jim (“J.R.”); daughters, Mary Lane and Linda Neff; 26 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great grandchildren. Special thanks to Caris Hospice & the staff of Hillcrest West. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Tennessee Avenue Baptist. Funeral services will be held Sunday at 7 pm in the chapel of Mynatt Funeral Home, with Rev. Mark Kidd officiating. Family and friends will meet at 10:45 am, Monday, New Gray Cemetery for internment at 11:00 am. The family will receive friends Sunday from 5-7 pm at Mynatt Funeral Home, Fountain City.
